A 100% natural blend of sustainable selected British Softwoods, Bury Hill Softwood Play Chip 5-35mm is chipped to a uniformed size and offers a good balance between appearance, durability and economy in comparison to our hardwood play chip, pine play barks and other decorative barks and coverings.

Fully tested for play use to BS EN 1177:2008, our Softwood Play Chip is a great alternative to more expensive pine play barks, whilst offering an economical, natural and rustic looking product for pathways.

Being composed of 100% softwood chip, this clean product is easy to install and has minimal fines and good drainage, which helps to promote the longevity of our Softwood Play Chip, providing it with an enhanced loose impact absorption surface.

This makes it a good choice for use in all play areas, but particularly large play areas where economy and safety are paramount. Bury Hill Softwood Play Chip starts off as a light creamy beige colour but ages over time to a golden tone.

Due to its economic cost, extended durability and increased impact absorption, our Premium Softwood Chip provides a great alternative to our hardwood chip and barks, whether for play areas or pathways.

SAFETY CRITERIA:
For the best possible safety benefits when using this product, we recommend that the RoSPA (Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents) advise is followed, which suggests that commercial play areas have a depth of 300mm, whilst for domestic use, the depth can be reduced to 150mm, without compromising your children’s safety. Please see below the tested critical fall heights to determine the minimum safety depth requirements.

For pathways our recommendation is a depth of 100mm.
