Low Fertility Topsoil

Suitable For:
• Wildflower Turfing & Seeding
• Wildflower Meadows
• Prestigious Wildflower Landscaping applications
• Use where a Low Fertility Soil is required

In order for wildflowers to succeed and flourish, a ‘Low Fertility Soil’ is essential, as this has been specially created to be low in phosphorous, effectively mimicking the hay meadows of bygone years. Its is a common misconception that Low Fertility soils are low in nutrients, when in fact they need to perform like a normal soil, but must be low in phosphorous so that the flowers can establish quickly and not be dwarfed by the grasses.

Blended from selected single source inert acidic sands with varying percentages of different acidic composts added, our Bury Hill Low Fertility Soil has been tested to BS3882:2015 for Low Fertility soils and has been specifically formulated to be low in plant nutrients, making it ideal for all wildflower turf and seeding applications. Blended from single source inert materials, our Low Fertility Soil is virtually weed free and is screened to 10mm. With a typical pH of around 6.0 to 7.0, our Low Fertility soil is best described as a  slightly acidic, non-saline, non-calcareous loamy sand with a low stone content.

Bury Hill Low Fertility Soil has frequently been specified and utilised with great success on numerous prestigious landscaping projects throughout London and the South East with many tens of thousands of tons of this material having been supplied with outstanding results.
